No More Room in Hell 2 Solo Mode: Can You Play Alone?

Before 1.0, solo play meant queueing into a public lobby by yourself. Solo Mode is the official alternative, and the trade-off is explicit.

Solo Mode is a training sandbox, not a progression path. Use it to learn maps and mechanics; play online when you want your Responder to actually level.

What Solo Mode gives you

  • All maps, playable by yourself and offline.
  • Permadeath turned off — your Responder can't be lost.
  • A safe space to learn combat, resource management and map layouts.

What it withholds

Progression is paused while playing solo. You earn no XP and no Credits, so a Responder played only in Solo Mode never levels. Torn Banner framed this explicitly as a training mode, not a single-player progression path.

When to use it

  • Before your first online run, to learn the objective flow.
  • When you want to learn a new map without staking a leveled character.
  • When matchmaking is empty at off-peak hours and you still want to play.

The game is still designed around eight players — Solo Mode teaches you the systems, but the real game is the squad.

Solo questions

Can I play No More Room in Hell 2 solo?

Does Solo Mode have permadeath?

No — permadeath is turned off in Solo Mode. Your Responder is safe there.

Do I earn XP in Solo Mode?

No. Main progression is paused while playing solo: no XP and no Credits.

Is Solo Mode offline?

Yes, it's designed to be playable offline, which also makes it the safe way to practice without risking a character.

Can I still queue into public matches alone?

Is Solo Mode good for beginners?

That's its stated purpose — Torn Banner framed it as a way to learn combat, resources and map layouts without the stakes.
